Eric Carr: God Gave Rock & Roll To You Tee (grey/black)

In the spring of 1991, after recording a reworked version of the Argent song "God Gave Rock and Roll to You," KISS proceeded to film a video for the song at an air hangar at Van Nuys Airport in Van Nuys, CA. Paul, Gene, Bruce, and Eric Carr arrived at the video shoot, not knowing that this would be Eric’s last filmed appearance with the band.

Although somewhat weakened by open-heart surgery and chemotherapy treatments just months before, Eric looked like his usual self (though sporting a wig) and pounded his massive Ludwig drum kit take after take at what proved to be an all-day, all-night video shoot.

According to his sister Loretta, Eric was out shopping in Los Angeles the day before the video shoot. While in a boutique clothing store, he spotted a black, long-sleeved shirt with a white cross on the front and the sleeves. He bought it on the spot and decided to wear it for the video shoot the following day.

Little did we know that this shirt would be what Eric wore for his last filmed performance on a song called "God Gave Rock and Roll to You." This, however, is a reverse color T-shirt version of Eric's long sleeve original.

Loretta provided us with the artwork, which is a near-identical recreation of Eric’s original shirt, still within the family’s possession. Guitar Nut Tees is honored to offer this shirt to Eric’s fans in memoriam to a great drummer and wonderful man.
