A few years after Bruce had his iconic ESP Banana M-1 guitar custom-built by the ESP shop in New York City, he began work on a similar instrument. Many of the components would remain the same as the Banana — a Strat-style body with a single humbucking pickup, maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard, oversized hockey stick headstock, a single volume knob, and a Floyd Rose tremolo. The key difference? This guitar would feature a stunning pearl white finish.
The White M-1 made its debut on KISS’s Hot In The Shade tour, where Bruce played it nearly every night. After the tour ended, Bruce made some notable modifications to the guitar, including the addition of a tortoiseshell pickguard, inspired by his favorite guitarist, Jimi Hendrix, and a tone knob that served as a built-in wah-wah when activated.
By the time KISS embarked on their Revenge tour in October 1992, the White M-1 had become one of Bruce’s go-to guitars. He often opened each show with it, and it’s prominently featured on KISS Alive III as well as the accompanying KISS Konfidential home video.
We’re proud to share that Bruce still owns this legendary ESP M-1, which remains one of his most recognizable KISS guitars. Guitar Nut Tees is excited to celebrate this piece of rock history with its own exclusive tee. Order yours today — we ship worldwide!
