Bruce Kulick "57 LP Junior" Tee

It's old, it’s beat, it’s sunburst... but it’s got serious mojo. This is Bruce Kulick’s 1957 Les Paul Junior. Bruce stumbled upon this severely neglected guitar at Guitars ‘R Us on Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood, CA. He recalls, “The bridge was horrible, it was all beat up, and the pickup was barely hanging on.” After chatting with the store owner about the guitar, he was encouraged to take the guitar home and give it a try.

Bruce ended up installing a new bridge and eventually swapped in a Seymour Duncan JB humbucker. With those upgrades and some other tweaks, the guitar found its voice. Bruce bought it for $400, and before long, it was in his hands during the KISS Revenge tour!

Featured in concert videos and countless photos, this guitar was a staple, played in at least four songs at every show—including Detroit Rock City. Beyond the tour, Bruce also used it for writing and recording sessions on the Carnival of Souls LP. Most notably, you can hear it on the slightly distorted verses of "Childhood’s End" and other tracks from the album. Bruce says, “It was a big hit with all the guys in KISS—Eric Singer’s favorite guitar of mine!”

The guitar’s legendary status only grew. In 1998, while KISS was recording the Psycho Circus album, Gene Simmons reached out to Bruce to rent the guitar for the sessions.

Over time, boutique guitar makers Rock and Roll Relics produced a limited run of 25 replica guitars based on this very Les Paul Junior, calling it the BK model.
